Windows Server 2008 R2 Updates Fail to install
Hi,
Windows Live Security Essentials cannot be installed in Windows Server 2008 R2, but you can install it in Windows 7. In addition, you can run Hyper-V
in Windows Server 2008 R2, but you cannot run Hyper-V in Windows 7. You still can run other virtual machines in Windows 7 with Windows Virtual PC.
If the above suggestions cannot fix the issue for you, please try to reset Windows Update components and run System Update Readiness Tool to repair the
system files. For the detailed steps, please refer to the following Microsoft articles:

Hi g_stuff_99,
Do you use WSUS or no?
What update is it installing while you get this error? Always the same or no?

hi,
I was just looking over the entries in the Application tab of the Event Viewer and I noticed that one of the errors mentioned Security Essentials was not installed; so, a better question would be is there a free anti-virus product that is compatible with
Server 2008 r2 or is there a way to run Windows 7 and still be able to create VMs in Hyper-V?
