Windows Server 2008 Pricing
Retail pricing for Windows Server 2003 were as follows: Web Edition: $399 Open NL Standard Edition: $999 with 5 CALs, $1,199 with 10 CALs Enterprise Edition: $3,999 with 25 CALs Datacenter Edition: $2,999 I think that that is too expensive. If retail prices were as follows for version 2008, then I am sure that many people would have a better impression. Web Edition: $399 Open NL Standard Edition: $599 with 5 CALs, $799 with 10 CALs Enterprise Edition: $999 with 25 CALs Datacenter Edition: $1,199 Also, make a retail version for the Datacenter edition -- don't make us get OEMs.

Datacenter is available through Volume Licensing from resellers and direct form Microsoft, so you do not have to get Datacenter from an OEM. Microsoft made this change on October 1, 2006.
