Windows Server 2008 Hangs
I recently installed Server2008 with Hyper-v and every night the system completely hangs (no mouse, no keyboard, and no remote access to the parent orany VM). The only unexplained error items I've foundare in the Diagnosis-DPS Operational log under Applications and Services Logs. I have not been able to find any information related to this error. Can anyone help shed light on these errors? Thanks in advance,ToddLog Name: Microsoft-Windows-Diagnosis-DPS/OperationalSource: Microsoft-Windows-Diagnosis-DPSDate: 8/28/2008 5:06:24 PMEvent ID: 170Task Category: Scenario LifecycleLevel: ErrorKeywords: Scenario lifecycle eventsUser: LOCAL SERVICEComputer: Server1.domain.localDescription:Diagnostic module {c0f51d84-11b9-4e74-b083-99f11ba2db0a} (%windir%\system32\radardt.dll) encountered an error while handling scenario {739ff6cf-5033-428c-9e2f-582096482dd5}, instance {ffb9080c-8232-47dc-8355-4f3f2da40d9d}, original activity ID {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}. Do you have all the current Hyper-V updates installed and files are the correct revisions? Cheers, Stephen Edgar

Stephen,I have applied the RTM version and all patches available from Windows Update (including KB950050) as of 3:09am today. I have not checked individual file versions. Can you point me to a list I can verify against? Thanks,Todd

Hello, I would highly suggest that you contact our Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) to get a memory dump to analyze the root cause, because this error should not happen on this build of Windows and a memory dump is really needed to find out the root cause. You can speak directly with a Microsoft Support Professional to analyze the memory dump. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services phone numbers and information about support costs, please go to the following address on the World Wide Web: http://support.microsoft.com/directory/overview.asp Besides, would you please check the Event Viewer, especially located at the sections under "Applications and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows" starting with words "Hyper-V-", to see if any other errors or warnings exist there? A very common cause to the "hang" problem is that some applications running in the parent partition or, some hardware devices or drivers, are not compatible with 64-bit version of Windows Server 2008 (incompatible devices or drivers may cause potential problems and are hard to find out the root cause). So, please also check this to narrow down the problem. You can try searching the WindowsServer catalog to see if the devices are listed there or, contact the manufacturers for this information. http://www.windowsservercatalog.com/ Best regards,Chang Yin

I also have SBS server2008. We performed a full migration from 32 bit sbs2003 to 64 bit sbs2008. We now have exactly the same error format: " Event Details: Diagnostic module {C0F51D84-11B9-4E74-B083-99F11BA2DB0A} (%windir%\system32\radardt.dll) encountered an error while handling scenario {739FF6CF-5033-428C-9E2F-582096482DD5}, instance {14B3D7CC-0712-40FA-9550-BDD9B9992479}, original activity ID {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}. The error code was -2147023888. " Investigation has shown we have circular linked directories in the user profiles... which needs further investigation. But it definately happens on SBS2008.
