Windows Server 2008 Foundation versions
Is there a difference between windows server 2008 foundation and windows server 2008 R2 foundation? Tiger direct advertises both in seperate systems. I don't want to buy something that can't be upgraded. Thank you for your help

Yes. just like other server versions, the current release is R2, just as the current release of the client OS is Windows 7 not Vista. Bill

Is it a simple process to update? to version R2?

R2 in a completely different OS. In comparison Vista is like 2008, Windows 7 is like 2008 R2. You can perform an in-place upgrade which is popping in the DVD, running setup and running it that way. Although personally i prefer to do a re-install from scratch if possible.
