Windows Server 2008 Firewall problem
Hello all:
I have a firewall problem. I can't start my Windows Server Firewall. I ruled out virus and GPO related problem. I did some research for this problem and tried the following solutions:
1. replaced sharedaccess.req file. It did something. The error message changed from "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display windows firewall settings" to "windows cannot start the firewall service"
2. tired "rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection Ndi-Steelhead 132 %windir%\inf\netrass.inf"
and it did not work
I am unable to ping my server's IP from other computer but I can ping other computer's IP from my server.
Also, I turned off third party AntiVirus program.
Any idea will be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Do you have any other 3rd party firewall software instaled on your server?? or maybe ISA server or forefront TMG ?? and the file you replaced.. you replaced it with a file from where?? and how?? and was this option (replacing the file) Microsoft Verified
because it could cause serious problems to your machine and result in you having to re-install the OS..tech-nique

Hi,
Please make sure that the following Windows Firewall dependencies are started:
Base Filtering Engine
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
RPC Endpoint Mapper
If it does not work, please also test the issue in Clean Boot to check if there is any third party software conflicts. For the detailed steps, please
refer to the following Microsoft KB article:
