Windows Server 2008 Black screen at boot
I installed a new Virtual Windows Server 2008 under Hyper-V at a client's 2 months ago.Since this week, I have a black screen at the console (or remotly with RDP).when I reboot the virtual server, I see the Microsoft bar with the moving green ligths (dots?) then the black screen. I don't see the greenish/blueish desktop color, I do not see preparing desktop or other windows messages, I do not see the login prompt, just a black, empty screen.I occasionally see the screensaver with Microsoft's logo until I move the mouse, then the black screen again. If I reboot the virtual server in safe mode, I get the black screen also. If I reboot to a "command line" safe mode, I get the black screen too.The server is responsive to network requests though. Accpac is installed and working properly, I just cannot change anything because I can't see anything...I tryed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946400/en-us, did not help.Event viewer on the Hyper-V server does not show any related error messages.I tried running scandisk on the virtual HDD (loaded as a second disk on another virtual server), there were some repair done to the disk, but did not change anything when I rebooted the server.I also took the VM's HDD and copied it on another Hyper-V physical server and I have the same problems there. So it is not hardware related. I took a look at this link: http://www.amikkelsen.com/?p=212but did not help either. I retryed to RDP to the server before sendind this post andI got an error message saying the server is not available...Let me know if you have anyidea how to fix this. Many thanks,Simonhttp://www.sertec.ca/

This is not only a Hyper-V issue. I have the exact same problems with my virtualized Server 2008's. I can update them fine but once they're rebooted they never come all the way up just the black screen with a mouse arrow. Safe mode doeasn't work.. same result.

Many thanks, Simon http://www.sertec.ca/ Is there a solution for this? Exact same problem on VMware Fusion. The funny thig is that I have 2 Physical machines running up to 3 VMs each and only one of these have the problem. Total black screen after windows boot animation.
