Windows Server 2008: Private and public network
Hi, I have a server 2008 with 2 nics and i want one to handle the private network (services: AD and DNS) and the other to have a public ip, connected to the DMZ port in my router giving only the DNS service to the internet. The idea is to set the firewall to only allow port 53 on this network or connection I've tried to set the private ip manually to the second nic, but i keep getting the message: "multiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a single network..." Then i save the changes, and when i recheck the nic config, the gateway field is empty. Is it posible to have the machine serving two networks from different class with two nics? Thanks!

Hi antihue, Thanks for posting here. We will not suggest to host internet facing DNS server in this way , epically not suggest to make it directly connect with both internal and external network same time . We should host a singlehomed server at DMZ and connect it with internet directly for providing name resolution for external . Thanks.
