I am trying to install a virtual machine (Virtual PC 2007) with Windows Server 2008. I have tried to load it directly from a cd that was burned with the ISO file. The message reads "Windows is loading" and gets to the next step and errors out with the following message. File: \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe Status: Oxc000035a Attempting to load a 64 bit application, however, this CPU is not compatible with 64 bit mode I am using Windows 7 as the host computer and it is a 64 bit system. Any suggestions how do fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Virtual PC 2007 supports the host to run as 64 bit. However, the guests must run as 32 bit. There is no support for 64 bit guests on Virtual PC 2007. Visit my blog: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.

Hi, If you try to install Windows Server 2008 64-bit on VPC 2007, this error is expected. As Jorge has stated, VPC 2007 only supports 32-bit guest OS. Meanwhile, the new Windows Virtual PC for Windows 7 does not support 64-bit guest OS. So, you may consider to install Windows Server 2008 32-bit.
