Windows Server 2003 Licensing Configuration
How can I repair my Windows 2003 Server Licensing? Specifically, how can I tansition from current inappropriate licensing by user to licensing by workstation or other more appropriate configuration? Details: Purchased Win2003 server w/ standard licensing. Multiple Event Log Application errors re: Licensing. On examination, "Purchase Date" of license is empty, each of my 8 current employees possess 0 "Valid" licenses and 1 "Invalid" license. Since each employee can use any of the 4 workstations connected to this single server, I suspect that: Correct configuration should be to license each workstation, not each user Past employees may have had a license, and been deleted from Active Directory on termination of employment without prior releasing of their license Result may be valid licenses linked to terminated / deleted employees; current employees holding invalid licenses; multiple resulting refusals from server How do I get from this current configuration to one that recognizes that I have purchased this with OEM licensing and need to license each of the 4 workstations? Thanks, Camillo
