Windows Server 2003 Keeps Shutting Down
We have a Windows 2003 Server running sql server 2000. All updates have been installed. Server has been running without a problem for more than 6 years now. Server has always run with the Firewall disabled. Now we need to enable the firewall. After we enable the firewall, windows Server gets a shutdown command issued in aboutt 3 to 5 minutes after bootup. We have no choice but to disable the firewall so the server will stay up. I done a full system scan using Symantec Antivirus, Tren Micro's online scanner, Spybot Search & Destroy, Malwarebytes, and HijackThis. Everything runs clean. Please help.

Hi, Please check if there is any related information in event log. Also, you may need to analyze dump files to find the root cause.

Hi , Did you check what version of firewall you are running ?If it is windows firewall , then i would suggest you to check the behavior in safe mode with networking and safe mode Its strange that firewall is issuing shutdown command or you need to check if there is any script perfoming this. Because firewall as a functionality enables and blocks the ports , so is that if you open certain ports , a script gets triggered ? or another option is to re-install the firewall software ( if 3rd party ) and test.
