Windows SBS 2008 Runtime Error
Hi everyone! We have most recently installed a new SBS 2008 x64 Domain Controller, and have seen some strange things thus far.First of all, and the reason for this post is because of the C++ Runtime Error that is encountered when trying to gain accessthrough Administrative Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers. We are getting this error when ever that is accessed through that location even after choosing Right Click > Run as AdministratorNow the savior for us so far has been to manually run the mmc.exe and add the snap in for AD. This has allowed us to bypassthe error, but so far in all of the forums that I have researched through, I cannot find anyone else who has had this happen. The error is very vague, and offers to send the error to Microsoft, but does not come back with a solution. The error reads as follows: MS Visual C++ Runtime Library > This application has requested the Runtime to Terminate it in anunusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. There are also no Event Logs for this.Problem signature: Problem Event Name:APPCRASH Application Name:mmc.exe Application Version:6.0.6001.18000 Application Timestamp:47919524 Fault Module Name:msvcrt.dll Fault Module Version:7.0.6001.18000 Fault Module Timestamp:4791ad6b Exception Code:40000015 Exception Offset:0000000000029b06 OS Version:6.0.6001.2.1.0.305.9 Locale ID:1033 Additional Information 1:43aa Additional Information 2:cf3a46656318492c1997480001b6b0e0 Additional Information 3:3837 Additional Information 4:92f72e0d0589ff77cef51e0a413aeff6Justin

Hi, I was having the same issue on my SBS 2008. To resolve it all I did was to copy over the dsa.msc from another server (%systemroot%\system32\dsa.msc) to the DESKTOP of the New SBS 2008 server. I than ran the dsa.msc from the desktop and it worked. Then I tired running the original dsa.msc from Administrative Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers and everything started to work fine. Maybe you can try the same method on your 2008 box?
