Windows Net
Is it possible to turn on windows file sharing in windows server 2008 for only one NIC or do I have to enable the firewall for both NICs and set rules for both NICs? I want to be without firewall for the internal network, but not for the external and turning on File Sharing in Network and Sharing Center makes both interfaces Private, which isn't that practical. Anyone with an idea how to solve this?

Hi, You can turn on file sharing for only one NIC by performing the following steps: 1. Enable the rule File and Printer Sharing (SMB-In) in Windows Firewall. 2. Double-click the rule, click the tab Scope, click These IP addresses in the section Local IP address. 3. Click Add, and then type the IP address of the NIC which you want to turn on file sharing for. Note: If you are not sure which profile is being used, youd better perform the steps above for all the three profiles.
