Windows Media Services / Windows Mobile / Server 2008
Hey Folks, I recently started working with Server 2008. I got the server up and running, and after setting it up test our web and ftp, I moved on to setup Windows Media Services. I stream my music collection so that I can access it while working at remote sites. The Media Services work great from my client laptops. No problems with music of video. However, when trying to stream to my Windows Mobile 6.0 phone I can't get that to work. My 2003 Server streamed to myWindows Mobile phone no problem. Now when I enter the URL the phone says 'Locating' then 'Connecting' then it says 'Cannot file the file' - the same link which plays on my XP client no problem. I think it has something to do with annoymous access. But I have tried a variety of annoymous settings without success. Anyone have any idea where I am going wrong? Since the XP clients work flawlessly, I have to assume that I am real close working with the Windows Mobile Client. Thanks Dave

Hi, Dave and Joel,This may be due to an intermediate server, load balancer, or firewall between WMS and the WM6 clients. Please take a look at the following post and see if following the advice there resolves the issue: http://blogs.msdn.com/randomnumber/archive/2008/09/05/wmp-unable-to-connect-to-wms-9-5-wms-returning-503-service-unavailable.aspx.-Chris-- --This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
