Windows KMS Activation
Hi All,
I came across a situation wherein my cusotmer was using Windows 2008 R2 Server as KMS Host and all my KMS Client machines are Windows 2008 Server.
KMS Host is on a Virtual Machine in Hyper-V. While accessing customers machine remotely, i found that the KMS Current count decreased and increased suddenly in the span of 15 minutes while there was no changes done.
We want to understand why this happened.

Hello Samuel,
Check the event logs for any change in dates\times on the kms host machine.
The count is reduced, aged out after 30 days, so if a machine has not contacted the KMS host for 30 days, the KMS host will remove that machine.
Also did you have any Windows 7 or Windows Vista KMS clients on the network?
What was the count prior to the decrease, after it decreased and after it increased?
Check the KMS host log and see what it reports around that timeframeThanks, Darrell Gorter This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Hey Darrell,
It is not about 30 days time period. Everything happened around 15 minutes. No infomration have the changes in System Date & Time.
No client machines in the environment. Overall, there is no logs regarding any changes around that time in the Event Logs. Checked from the MSDT.
The count prior the issue was 7 and it reduced to 5 and then again back to 7.
Let me know if you require any further information.
