Windows Installer Can't be accessed error.
I am running server 2008 enterprise r2 64-bit and I am having big issues anytime I try to install anything that uses the 64-bit installer. I get that the windows installer can't be accessed. Error 1719. I have tried multiple things with no luck.
Things that I have tried are as follows:
1.Reregistering both the 32-bit and 64-bit msiexec in safemode, Checked permissions in the registry, Got a new msiserver reg key and imported it in and rebooted with no luck, checked, verified the strings in the registry.
I can't install antivirus on the server. Is there a way to reinstall windows installer, or an upgrade, or... NEED HELP ASAP. Thankyou in advance.

Hello,
try that: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315346
If it does not help, try performing an in-place upgrade of your OS of restore your server from a backup that dates before the appearance of your problem.

Have tried all of that before with no luck. Is there a way to reinstall windows installer from the cd? This is a server used everyday by numerous people, so a reinstall of the operating system is not an option. I hope someone can give
me a answer. Thanks

in-place upgrade is not re-installing. It is a kind of install repair. You can perform it out of business hours. Backup your server before proceeding.

Hi,
Please refer to the following link to check if it can be reinstalled.
Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8483
If it does not work, please also try to run System File Checker to scan and repair the system files. For the detailed information, please refer to the
following Microsoft KB article:
How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
If the issue persists, you will still need to perform an In-Place upgrade to repair the system.
