Windows 8 XBox Music app doesn't categorize music from library location on network
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this kind of question. I wasn't sure it was related to storage or streaming media forums. I've already been redirected off the Microsoft Answers forum: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-pictures/xbox-music-app-doesnt-read-song-tags-from-library/b8cd8de9-d642-49d2-aa63-20950d557db9?tm=1352434832526 I have my music library stored on a file server (server2008 R2). I've added the music location to the Music area under Libraries on my Windows 8 PC. However, when I load the Xbox Music app, all my songs show up as unknown artist / unknown album. Odly, other music players, such as Windows Media Player or Zune have no trouble categorizing the music correctly. I copied an album to the My Music folder on my local hard drive, and then the Xbox music app works great. However, keeping copies of the music on every client computer is a waste of management resources. Xbox music seems to have an issue with categorizing music over a network. Anyone have any suggestions, or experience with it working in similar set up? I already have the server running indexing on the music folder, and tried turning the firewalls off with no effect. Thanks for the help.

You know he is not talking about XBOX as the device right and that most media services on windows clients, entertainment devices, and phones is now referred to a "Xbox" something.... right? I too have this issue, having to store all my media everywhere is pretty silly
