Windows 7 & Vista clients losing connection to open files and shared folders on 2008 R2 server
We have recently replaced a Windows Server 2003 machine with a Server 2008 R2 machine. We use several in house software products that work with VFP data tables. An application will hold the data files open while it runs. If nothing is done on the computer that accesses the server for a long period of time, it seems like the session to the server will close and the open file handles become invalid, which cause software to crash, data to fail to save, and generally unhappy users. Periodically we will also see the client's mapped network drives disconnect. There is no interruption of network connectivity. All we have to do is restart the software or access a shared resource. It just seems like the server has closed the open connection to recycle it or something. I have observed this behavior on Windows Vista and Windows 7 clients. Any suggestions?

I have made that configuration change, however, I continue to experience the problem. I have verified that the setting is applied by checking it from the command prompt use net config server. Is there anything else I shoud try? Or is there something that also needs to be configured on the clients?
