Windows 2008 registry issues
Hi, I have an application (Oracle Documaker) that runs just fine under Windows 2003. When Installed on a Windows 2008 server, the application can no longer create and maintain some registry keys: [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-590508494-1615606015-1128231545-32391\Software\Oracle] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Oracle\Oracle Documaker 12.0] A number of preferences are stored in multiples subkeys. The application routinely updates these keys, under Windows 2003, but fails to do so under Windows 2008. I don't get any warnings or error messages, the keys are just not updated. Any suggestions? This occurs on a corporate server, part of a domain, and on a standalone server, part of a workgroup. Thanks,

If you are installing it on Server Core, be aware that it is NOT designed to run third-party applications. You can only run several Microsoft roles on it.

Sorry for the confusion. I'm no Windows server expert and I wasn't sure in which forum I should post the question. It is on a full installation of Windows 2008 Standard.

Hi, Please contact Oracle to check whether the application (Oracle Documaker) is compatible with Windows Server 2008.

Hi Vincent, That was the first step. Oracle people in tech support and product development have been working on the issue since April 30, but no luck so far. The problem is that, on one hand, they cannot duplicate the issue and very few users have reported similar problems. On the other hand, I can duplicate the issue on two servers. We cannot figure out what could be different between their installations and mine. The application is coded in C++, so I assume there has to be some basic difference between the way C++ is handled under Windows 2003 and Windows 2008. The very same applications run just fine under 2003.
