HI , i need urgent help , here what happens: I have a server PC on which was installed windows 7 first then on another partition I installed the windows 2008 server , when i boot i usually got 2 options to select. Now the problem is that i don't want windows 7 partition so i tried to format it from windows 2008 , I could not , so I started with a Windows 2008 DVD and deleted the windows 7 partition successfully . Now when I restarted , it gives a message that there is no operating system at all? what to do? I am pretty sure that the windows 2008 partition is still existing, i can either see it files through cmd. how can I fix this , specially that it is the main DC in my company.please help

All versions of Windows WILL NOT allow you to format or remove a partition on a volume that will affect its performance and operation. The fact that it would not allow you to delete the partition from within Windows Server 2008 should have been the warning sign. If you were to pay attention to Disk Management, you would have seen from within Windows Server 2008 that the Windows 7 partition would have read; System, Active, Boot. It may have had all three or a combination of them. If so, you would have to take great care in removing the partition. In either case, I am glad you were able to get back into a running state, but keep in mind when that when Windows wont allow you to do something like this, there is a very good reason.

you are totally right , but as i remember windows 7 was installed first as testing then windows 2008 server so i am wondering why there was no BCDboot on 2008 , it seems that the boot was written on the windows 7 partition , I felt that there was system files setting issue and I was hesitating before doing that , but anyway lesson learned ...
