Windows 2008 in a 2003 Environment
I introduced a Windows 2008 server into a Win 2003 environement without preparing AD. Will I be able to rectroactively prepare AD?

If it's a member server (no AD controller) you don't need to. If on the other hand you wish to promote this machine to DC you'll want to prepare your AD schema. It all depends on what you want to do, unfortunately you're stating the question in a very ambiguous way opening the door for multiple possibilities.

Hello Barry, If you are introducing Windows 2008 as Additional Domain Controller then you might have to upgrade your schema and domain.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771461(WS.10).aspxhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771368(WS.10).aspxhttp://www.petri.co.il/windows-server-2008-adprep.htmNote: If you have a normal windows 2008 Member server to be introduced in your existing Infrastructure then you dont need to upgrade your schema and Domain.Thankshttp://technetfaqs.wordpress.com

I did not want to introduce a 2008 AD in my 2003 network at this time. I added a 2008 member server and was concerned that the schema had to be prepared first. But my question was answered. Thanks.Barry
