Windows 2008 evaluation version
I need to know if a evaluation version of Windows server 2008 standard 64bit can be activated as a standard version. I am receiving the windows activation windows telling me that the pre-release version of windows server 2008 standard will expire in 1 day. This is an exchange server for a customer and need to prevent it from expiring if possible. I have a open license key for it and I am wondering if I can just change the product key throught the system console under the windows activation section? If it cannot be converted what process do I need to follow to correct this issue? Will I be able to do a repair with with a standard version or a complete reload? Current version is 6.0 (build 6002: Service Pack 2, v.113)

Hi, You can input a key to transfer to a standard version. Meanwhile, please also refer the following steps which can help reset the evaluation time. How to extend the Windows Server 2008 evaluation period http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/948472?p=1

Hello, I used one of my open license keys for the version of Windows 2008 standard 64bit and I received a message that the windows activation was successful. I then rebooted, ran winver and winver is still reporting that I am using an evaluation copy and it is going to expire in X hours. Is this normal or will I have to reload?

Hi, Leave the key blank and try to active it again. Here is a similar topic: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winservergen/thread/ac183b70-08b5-4849-9491-369402a2cf51
