Windows 2008 Service Pack 2 installation failed with error code 0x80041002
I have a Windows 2008 x86 with Service Pack 1 installed. I tried installing Service Pack 2 from windows update but it failed with error code 0x8004102. I tried the steps in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366: 1. Uninstalled antivirus. 2. Installed the readiness tool KB947821 3. Downloaded and ran the standalone version http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=a4dd31d5-f907-4406-9012-a5c3199ea2b3&displaylang=en Without luck. What should it do next? Hi, The error number 0x8004102 was written incorrectly. There should be 8 digitals after 0x. As this issue is related to Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 installation, I suggest discussing it in our Windows Vista Service Packs/Windows Server 2008 Service Packs forum. They are the best resource to troubleshoot this issue. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/itprovistasp/threads Tim Quan

Sorry, I missed one digit. The error message is 0x80041002. I actually have also noticed that the same error occurs if I try to install any program so it seems something is wrong with the machine itself. I tried the settings mentioned by Mr X but that didn't help. "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."
