Hi to all, I was fresh in Windows 2008 Server, and I already experienced issues like slow network, cannot access the shared folder on this server. The other problem with this server version, for an instance the client pc (vista os) before it was working fine but when this unit joined the domain it start getting a problem when opening some documents it end up with not responding as well during printing. since February 2009, I haven't found any information to get rid out of those problems. All I did is restarting the server then it was fine for a week! Any ideas fellas really appreciate it! Regards, John

Hi John,I agree with Syed. To help you on these issues, we may need to collect some information. Are there any Anti-virus applications on that problematic Windows Server 2008 based computer?According to our experience, it is reported that some anti-virus applications, such as Symantec Endpoint Protection, may affect the file sharing and printing function. If you have installed the Symantec Endpoint Protection on that problematic server, you may check if the version of the antivirus is correct, and you may download and install this fix on the problematic server to see if it is helpful for you. Please visit the following Symantec Web site: Windows Server 2008 network shares become unresponsive with Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 or Symantec Anti-Virus 10.2 client installed and Auto-Protect enabled http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/854fa02b4f5013678825731a007d06af/acb1ac0cabfc43278825746c006bc61a?OpenDocument Network shares become unresponsive on Windows Server 2008 32-bit with Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 Auto-Protect enabled http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/docid/2008061812370848?Open&seg=ent if the issue still exist, in order to narrow down the cause of the issue more efficiently, let us refer the following steps to perform a Clean Boot and restart the computer in Safe Mode to see if the issue still continues. Step 1: Perform a Clean Boot 1. Click "Start", go to "Run", and type "msconfig" in the open box to start the System Configuration Utility. 2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click Disable All (if it is not gray). 3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". 4. Restart your computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the box and click "OK". Step 2: Reboot to Safe Mode 1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple Operating Systems, you can press the F8 key when you see the boot menu. 2. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe Mode, and then press Enter. 3. Log onto Windows by using the Administrator account or any user account with the Administrator privileges. Please note: In Safe Mode, your system display and desktop will look and perform differently than in Normal Mode. Hope the information can be helpful for you. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
