Windows 2008 R2 restart issue
I am running 23k8r2 7601 (sp1 build) on my asus laptop with 16gb memory.
The lapop runs just fine for days without a restart, where as w2k8r2 restarts sporadically atleast once in 36hrs or so.
I did use whocrashed but it wasnt of much help as it wasnt able to single out the driver issue

I would look at getting a "server" laptops are not built to function as full time equipment. Off the top of my head, you are probably overheating the system, laptops just do not do a good job of dumping heat for days on end with no break, the fans
and cooling systems are not designed to perform like that. As the system overheats, you memory and onboard system cache will become impared and probably the results of your errors. Higher end latop video cards are heat monsters.:P Advice offered, If you need more help it is advised to seek the council and advice of paid professionals. The answer is always 42, or reboot.

I periodically monitor the temperature thru CPUThermometer. I also tried disabling the turbo boost for i7.
But The same system runs on W7 flawlessly.
The problem occurs whenever I shutdown as well.
Work around: while powering up i press f8 and select disable driver signature enforcement

Hello,
please use Microsoft Skydrive to upload dump files (c:\windows\minidumps) and post a link here.
Normally this forum is not for debugging but I will do that for you.
You can also contact Microsoft CSS.

Hi,
Besides the above suggestions, if you need further assistance, we may have to analyze memory dump file to narrow down the cause of this
issue. Forum is not the best place for analyzing dump. It’s suggested to contact Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) so that a dedicated Support Professional can help you on this issue.
To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below.

to find the root cause for the behavior you have posted above a memory dump file should be examined.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254649
However, if all of these steps do not work, an analysis of the crash dump file may be needed. To trouble shoot this problem efficiently, I suggest that you speak
directly with a Microsoft Support Professional so that the crash dump can be analyzed. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services phone numbers and information about support costs, please go to the following address on the World Wide Web:

Thank you for your understanding and I hope this will be resolved soon.http://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin

The BSOD occured when lsass.exe was running.
Please perform a full scan on your disks to identify and uninstall malware programs. Also, update all possible drivers as I have seen drivers that have not been updated since 2009.
