Windows 2008 R2 Poor Performance
We're currently running a number of virtual servers on Dell R610s; these include Windows server 2003, 2008 32bit, 64bit and R2. We seem to be having a problem with the 2008 R2 servers. The performance of them seems to degrade over time causing high CPU usage and a slow response from the GUI. The other servers run fine it's just the R2 servers that we're having problems with for instance I’ll go to 'Start' > 'Administrative Tools' and it will take an age for it to display whilst the explorer.exe process almost hits 100% of CPU. I've rebuilt some servers but it seems that the problem still persists. Any help would be much appreciated as I'm at my wits end.

Hi, Please also help confirm the following: · Are you using Hyper-V? · What operating system is running on the Parent Partition? Windows Server 2008 R2? · Is the Windows Server 2008 R2 virtual machine clean installed? · Do you encounter the issue when you only run one Windows Server 2008 R2 virtual machine on the physical machine? Meanwhile, please check if the following hotfix can resolve the issue: 976417 High CPU usage in the Explorer.exe process when you open a folder that contains corrupted .wav files in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;976417This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
