Windows 2008 R2 Maximum LUN Size?
Hi there....... I have a multi-part question all related to a bunch of new gear we just had delivered and Hyper-V. My Data Center is the fortunate recipient of the following new gear: HP Blade Center c7000 w/9 - ProLiant BL490c G6 blades - dual quad Xeon 2533Mhz CPU's and 32GB ram each HP EVA6400 Fibre SAN The intent is to visualize 80 - 90% of our physical servers to this new blade / SAN architecture. We currently use 5 HP DL-360 G5's as Hyper-V as hosts for some of servers. With that in mind my questions are as follows: We will be using Windows 2008 R2 (when it becomes available on our MVLS site), in your opinion what is the best flavor of W2K8. Standard, Enterprise or Datacenter. Do we get a benefit / downside of one over another? Our preference is to make one gigantic LUN on our new SAN to store all of the VHD's and to present that same LUN to all of the blades. We want to be able to take advantage of the "hot migration" feature that is new in Hyper-V R2. I would think having all of the blades pointing to the same LUN would make this easier. What is the maximum size of LUN that can be presented / addressed by W2K8 R2? In the past the max was 2TB. Thanks! ---Jason
