Windows 2008 R2 - Problems with NLA assigning Network Category.
We build large numbers of servers that will typically have 2 or more network interfaces installed. These servers are installed onsite at customer's data centres and serve live stock market data to a proprietary desktop product. One interface
is on our domain and we do not firewall/port filter this. The other interfaces are patched into the customer network.
I am having problems with the way NLA decides to assign a 'Network Category' (Domain, Public, Private etc).
During testing we have noticed when the interface which we want to have the 'Domain' Network Category has its Ethernet cable unplugged and then plugged back in a few seconds later sometimes is assigned the Network Category of 'Private'.
This will be a problem for us because we have no control over how our customer's configure their network. We need to be able to consistnently apply a trusted policy to our NIC and untrusted policies to the customer facing NIC/s.
Can we assign this manually?
