Windows 2008 Enterprise Login Issue - RDP
Hi, Question/Issue: After a certain amount of time, we are unable to connect thru RDP or Login thru a console (management port). The shares and the functionality still work but a reboot is the only way for us to login remotely again. Nothing is seen is the event logs. Updates have been applied periodically however the problem persists. Any help on direction for this problem would be greatly appreciated. We will continue to find a solution from here in the meantime. Thanks, dmats

Thanks for the quick response and my apologies for the late reply but was busy doing other tasks. Yes, we successfully telneted to port 3389. Also, there isn't any AV software installed. Firewall is also disabled. Issue is still there and we are continuing to look for a solution. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! dmats

Hey again. So, we restarted the server 2 nights ago and are monitoring the server closely. So far, the issue has not reappeared. We decided not to disable the UAC for now as the exact problem is that we are able to connect to the server thru rdp/console but as soon as we log in, it sits on the blue logon screen, tho from a server perspective we are logged. If we discover anything I will post back with the results. This issue is a bit puzzling as we have simular servers like the one in question in our environment. The main role of the server is file and print. It is also a physical server so we are also looking at a possible hardware connection to the issue. Thanks again for you help and hopefully I can post later with the solution.

Hi there. Appreciate the inquiry but we were unable to find the source of the issue. We are now in the process of rebuilding the box from scratch with 2008 R2. Thanks.
