Windows 2008 Active directory in Windows 2003 AD Farm
Hi all ,
Pls help with query .
I have 4 sites all with subnets.
At site one - 2 DC one as main and other as DR DC on Windows Server 2003 Standard
At site two- one DC on Windows Server 2003 Standard
At site three - one DC on Windows Server 2003 Standard
At site four - one DC on Windows Server 2003 Standard
As server of DC at site four is very old now , we want to replace it with new server with windows server 2008 STD .
Is this possible?

The answer of your question is, yes, it's possible. Please keep in mind that before the DC promo for the new Win 2008 DC, you should prepare/extend your existing AD Schema for Windows Server 2008.

Hello,
Yes, this is possible.
First of all, you have to prepare your AD environment for the add of 2008 DCs.

Once prepared, you can add DCs running 2008 as an OS.

Hi,
Yes, you may upgrade the schema, add Windows Server 2008 R2 which is the newest server operating system and demote the current old Windows Server 2003
domain controller.
