Windows 2008R2 system drives fills up
Hi.
I have a problem with several servers.
When opening my computer, så drive is reported almost full.
One of the servers have a partition on 40GB, uses aprox. 20GB.
Slowly the free space disappears.
When running treesize free, it says there er user aprox 20GB.
The only folder it is unable to see in the root is "system volume information".
When rebooting, the space is slowly released, and after som hours, the space is the reported properly under my computer.
Our SCOM does not react to this problem.
As information i can tell that the server is AD, DNS, NPS, DHCP, pretty standard DC setup.
At this costumer there are 2 servers running like thins, both have the problem.
They are virtuel Hyper-V nodes.
Anyone have any idea??
I don´t know if the servers will have problems of the disc is allowed to run out of space, but I dont like to find out :-)

Hi Milos
1. The discs er "Basic#, I just dubble checked...
2. There isn´t any real information in the logs.
The servers are clean installations, no reinstall of services og roles, all 1st install.
My collegeas has seen this behaviour on other servers, but no one has been able to come up with an answer to why?

You probably have volume shadow copies enabled.

1. What type of virtual disks do you use? If disks are dynamic, then I can imagine behaviour like this one.
2. What is the "history"of server(s)? Any traces in event logs?
