Windows 2003 folder security
Question... I have a Windows 2003 server functioning as a file server. I have various shares and top level folders created and have applied various permissions. All seems to be working well except.... I had a user ask if a folder could be created and if I could give him the ability to grant permissions to the folder for other users instead of IT doing. I figured no problem. I created the folder, removed inheritance and granted his domain ID full control of the folder. He is also the owner of the folder. When he goes into the properties of the folder to try and add a user and grant permissions, all buttons are greyed out (add button, etc...) Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.Thanks...

ok, he is probably accessing the folder over network?what are the sharing permissions above the NTFS folder in question?if you want to modify NTFS permissions over file share access you need to have Full Control on the Sharing level as wellyou may have only the Change there.ondrej.

Before the below check the sharing permission. Some times i have face this problem, you will need to rejoin the pc. At the user pc Ex: if your domain is hello.net delete the .net and press enter it will ask usr and pass, reboot, and check. dkotix

Ondrej,That did the trick. He was accessing over the network and I forgot about share permissions. Granted him full share permissions and did some testing to make sure he couldn't do anything he wasn't supposed to. It's been a while since I've dealt with folder / share permissions. Thanks for your help!
