Windows 2003 Server desktop icons do NOT appear after login
I'm not able to see the desktop icons after login to a windows 2003 file server (virtual machine) even when I tried RDP using different admin accounts; I ONLY see a blue screen and no icons show. The "Task Manager" through the logon screen also does NOT show up. The server shared resources are still accessible by users domain wise. I restarted and power-off/on couple times but still the same issue persists. Any help is greatly appreciated Thank you,

Hi, Are you able to access the event viewer remotely from the Microsoft Management Console? Do Start -> run -> type mmc In the mmc window, click file -> Add/Remove snap-in, click add, scroll to Event Viewer, click add, select "Another computer" and select the file server. Click finish, close, ok. If you are able to get in, are there any errors being logged? -- Mike Burr
