Windows 2003 - NetDDE Error
I am having a problem with a Windows 2003 Enterprise Server SP2. The server has an error that stops application from communicating. I have 25 workstations using this server to communicate to equipment. Randomly, I will get a NetDDE error in the event viewer with an Event ID of 206 that states “Listen failed: 11: The local session table was full”. All communication stops between the equipment and the application. I can use the NBTSTAT –R command to reset the sessions and then restart the system. It will run for several days but then the error returns. The resolution according to Microsoft’s web site is to “To correct this problem, increase the session limit using the NetBIOS Reset or DIR.OPEN.ADAPTER NetBIOS commands.” How do you do this in Windows 2003?

Take a look at SessionTableSizeMS TCP/IP and Windows 95 Networking http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc723264.aspxWindows TCP/IP Registry Entrieshttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/158474Regards,

Thanks for the reply. Both tech notes point to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \System \CurrentControlSet \Services \VxD \MSTCP as the registry entry to modify the SessionTableSize. Looking at the registry on the server I don't have a key for VxD and no where in the registy can I find a MSTCP key

I think the article tells you to add them. I'd be skeptical of the whole thing to be honest. I'd ask the vendor about some newer technology.Regards,
