Windows 2000 to Windows 2008 SAN volume Swap
I have a Winodws 2000 server which is attached to a SAN volume via HBA and would like some advice on presenting that SAN volume to a Windows 2008 server without data loss. 1. Will Windows 2008 see existing data from SAN Volume? 2. Will Windows 2008 recognize NTFS and Share Permission from the Windows 2000 server? Thanks

Hello, if the machines are in one domain all NTFS permissions are available also on new servers. BUT the reconnection from the SAN should i do not understand, how exactly do you like to do this? Do you have a new SAN and will just mirror the data or will you reconnect the disks to the new servers?Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

The windows 2000 server is in workGroup, but the windows 2008 box is a member of my domain. This will be a physical to virtual migration. Thanks MYousufAli for pointing out the fileserver forum.
