Windows 2000 server stopped sharing the shares
We have an older model Dell Server running windows 2000 sp4, updated. Recently, a user could not access her files and running "net view <servername>" from her workstation returned an error 58. The same was true running net view from other workstations as well. I rebooted the server and the users could then access their files and I could do a net view on that server with no errors. In the event log, I found the following: Event ID: 2019 Source: Srv The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the pool was empty. Event ID: 2511 Source: Server The server service was unable to recreate the share NETLOGON because the directory C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\ic.internal\SCRIPTS no longer exists. Event ID: 5706 Source: Netlogon The Netlogon service could not create server share C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\ic.internal\SCRIPTS. The following error occurred: The system cannot find the file specified. Can anyone give me any insight or direction about these errors please, especially the one in Srv? The SCRIPTS directory does not exist on the server. Should it?

Hello, First, did you check these KB from Microsoft : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/133384/en-us http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888928/en-us Second, did you have any antivirus software installed on this computer, specially McAfee BR, http://blog.simaju.fr - Partage de connaissances et retour d'expériences.

Hi and thanks for the reply. We do not have macafee running. The other article describes the even we are getting but I do not know of any tcp/ip sockets program we have running. The machine is acting as a file server, as well as a DNS server.

This server is a DC ? Try to create the SCRIPT dir in C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\ic.internal\ and reboot the server. Please have a look at this thread, hope it helps.http://blog.simaju.fr - Partage de connaissances et retour d'expriences.

Hello, as the server seems to be a domain controller with problems please upload the following files: ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt [from each DC/DNS Server] dcdiag /v /c /d /e /s:dcname >c:\dcdiag.txt netdiag /v >c:\netdiag.txt [from each DC, netdiag may work but isn't supported with Windows server 2008 and don't run on Windows server 2008 R2] repadmin /showrepl dc* /verbose /all /intersite >c:\repl.txt ["dc* is a place holder for the starting name of the DCs if they all begin the same (if more then one DC exists)] dnslint /ad /s "DCipaddress" (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321045) As the output will become large, DON'T post them into the thread, please use Windows Sky Drive (skydrive.live.com) [with open access!] and add the link from it here. Also the /e in dcdiag scans the complete forest, so better run it on COB.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Hello, dcdiag shows 5 DCs but you uploaded only one ipconfig /all so how many DCs do you have i total running? If more then one please upload the missing ones also. IC-750 has problems where there some changes/restores etc. on it? DCSERVER3 and DCSERVER8 have replication problems, any firewalls in between them? Then either disable them or follow: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772723(WS.10).aspx Also check them for existing sysvol/netlogon share and the same content as on the other DCs. Make sure each DC is registered in the forward/reverse lookup zone of each DNS server with it's A and Nameserver record(if DNS server). The dcdiag output is incompleteuntil now.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Thanks for any help, Maureen Hello, make sure to use an elevated command prompt (RUNAS), Windows server 2008 and higher OS use UAC by default and this belongs also to the members of enterprise/domain admins group and for some commands also on the administrator account, so run the again.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
