Windows 2000 Server reboots automatically
Hi
I understand MS does not support 2000 servers anymore. But in our environment we still have lot of servers running win 2000 and advanced OS. Since last week almost all the win 2000 servers are rebooting automatically. When i checked the logs it was
giving me the traditional event # 6008 - "The previous system shutdown at 11:58:13 on 23/06/2011 was unexpected"
Obviously there was no patches from MS to install and we didnt made any changes on the servers recently. Also there was no dump file created on the server evn though it was enabled. only on one server it was available but we couldnt find the root cause.
Also we ran full scan on all the servers and no virus was found.
Can someone pls help us why these servers are rebooting automatically?
Thanks
Regards
Balaji

Hello,
like you said, Windows 2000 is not yet supported by Microsoft.
Since last week almost all the win 2000 servers are rebooting automatically
Based on what yous said, I suspect the existance of viruses / spywares / malware programs. I recommend then performing a full scan on your disks to delete them and then performing a repair install.
Also, install SP4 and update all possible drivers.

I have the same problem, many servers, at various clients started rebooting ramdomly, some a few times a day, starting a few weeks ago. All updates done, all scanned for viruses. Nothing helpful in the logs.
