Windows 2000 SAM Corruption
2000 Advanced box that BSOD with a corrupt SAM. LKG was a no go. Manual and Fast Repair were a no go too. I manually copied the sam from the \repair folder to \config to get the box up but all of my accounts are of course GONE. Is there any way to repair the old SAM? I still have it.

Hi Mickeyshowres,Thank you for posting in windows server forums,Can you please check if you can navigate to recovery console and then repair the SAM, AFAIK with ERD you should be able to repair the corrupted sAMFrom recovery console run chkdsk /r Have you cheked the backedup entries , are you able to open them ?, connect the disk to working system and check if you are able to open the sam filesYou can follow the article below which has been released for xp OS , i dont think there is a difference in registry structure for xp and 2000http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/307545

chkdsk /r did not fix the error. It appears that, for whatever reason, Windows has not been making backups of SAM as it should have been.
