Windows (2003) can't find pagefile
2 days ago our server gave allot of errors (every 30 sec ish) and basicly stopped from doing anything (couldnt open any program). So we shut it down and rebooted the machine. the event was ID: 333 msg: An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably. The Registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the system's image of the Registry. since that reboot the machine says it can't find the pagefile or the pagefile is to small, we checked the settings and they were fine but still tried to change it to let system take care of it but no luck. I checked in the registry where it would be writing the pagefile.sys to and was as default c:\ , so I checked and no pagefile.sys to find (it does show system files, checked that allready). Anyone knows how to resolve this? its running on a temp pagefile at this moment (256Mb). Kind regards, Jesper

Hi, Please refer to the following suggestions for troubleshooting this time. Suggestion 1 Give Full Control Permission to the SYSTEM Account ======================================= 1. Start Windows Explorer, right-click the computer’s root hard drive C:, and then click Properties. 2. Click the Security tab, and then click Edit. 3. In the Group or user names box, click the SYSTEM account. 4. Under Allow, make sure the Full Control checkbox is checked , and then click OK. Suggestion 2 Verify the Registry Permissions ========================== 1. Click Start, Run, type regedit and then press Enter. 2. Select HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, on the Edit menu, click Permissions. 3. Verify that the SYSTEM account has been added and that it has Full control. If it does not, add the SYSTEM account with Full control. 4. Please use the same method to give Full control permission to the following registry keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE HKEY_USERS HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG Suggestion 3: Clear the Windows Paging File at Shutdown temporary ========================================================== Note: After troubleshooting, please remember to change the key back later. Change the data value of the ClearPageFileAtShutdown value in the following registry key to a value of 1: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management If the value does not exist, add the following value: Value Name: ClearPageFileAtShutdown Value Type: REG_DWORD Value: 1 Note: you need to restart the computer to let the registry changes to take efforts. Hope the above information will be helpful. Thanks. NinaThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
