Hi, i'm experiencing exactly the same thing.

Every 5 days win32k desktop heap allocation failed. First symptom is scheduled tasks stop running (nightly windows server backup, sophos antivirus updates etc) until server is rebooted then all is ok until another 5 days....

Did you ever find a fix?

Unfortunately not :(

I have yet to try the registry setting but I aim to this week as I am sick & tired having to baby sit this 6 month old server!

I'll let you know how it goes.......

Hi AbboBasT,

The same promblem with one of my servers.

Every monday morning I should reboot server; otherwise I get black blank screen after RDP logon.

According to eventlog it starts with error ID 243 and after that I get tons of ID 10010.

Do you have any progress with the issue?

Heelo babajeeb69,

This may help to mend the issue running on the servers:

Open regedit, and navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\SubSystems

Then found the following value: "Windows SharedSection=X,Y,Z.

Where X,Y and Z are the values you'll found there.

The Desktop heap the the "Y" value.

Double this value, and then reboot the box.

Hopefully the issue will dismiss for good.

It turns out that too many interactive services are running on the machine, since this services allocate some from the Desktop heap, when it becomes depleted the Win32K will starve for memory even with plenty of memory and disk space.

Att,

Felipe Cobu

I meant to update this thread ages ago, the registry fix did it for me. Have a look at this article: https://support.software.dell.com/appassure/kb/132435

As per the article I increased the 3rd value from 768 to 4096, problem solved.
