Win 2003 Hangs at login
Hi Team,I have around 10 windows 2003 servers part of a domain hosted virtually using VMware. One of the Win 2003 server has hanging issues. When I log in to the server using local admin account or domain admin account the server hangs and I need to reboot the server. This does not happen all the time to all the users but happens randomly. I checked the event logs and did not find anything from it. But once when I logged I observed the task manager and found the CPU utilization to be very high due to multiple instances of regsvr32.exe. Could this be causing the hang issue? If yes, how do I go about solving the same.?Thanks in advancevinay

hi vinay, the issue might be related to multiple components installed on your server. So in order to troubleshoot we would be required different data .In order to isolate the issue , we would like you to perform the following tasks. Questions and Suggestions=================a) please make sure you updte your windows 2003 server to latest binaries ( SP, hotfix and dll's) and restart the server and check for the issue. b) Since when is the issue occuring , is it occuring after an SP install / hotfix install / NIC driver update / any of the drivers update ?c) Please make sure you check the issue in safe mode to avoid 3rd party services intervetion . if the issue did not occur in safe mode then you need to get the suspect application.d) Make sure you have a thorough virus check , beware of Conficker virus. and with the above tests done, please send us the data.sainath
