WinSxS Swallowing Hard Drive Space
Hey there, just wondered if anyone knows of a patch or a decent realiable supported fix for this problem. I have a small data centre with about 10 virtualized servers. Some of which run Server 2008 64bit. After about 9 months useage coupled with exchange edb files, SQl, etc. I noticed that a significant amount of my system partition on the 64bit servers was being chewed up by this directory. I understand what its there for and why its a good idea and all that stuff. What can you do though to stop it growing out of control. I thought that a 75GB C drive would be more than enough. Sadly it wasn't luckily though i could move my .edb files somewhere else to free up some space. Surely MS must be aware that not everybody has an infinite amount of storage space. Especially people who rent servers/storage space. It really would start mounting up after a while. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Glyn.

You mention that you are running SQL. On my server the log files became really quite big because the recovery model of each database was set to 'Full'. I therefore had a choice to make between changing the recovery model to 'Simple' or to move the log files to a different drive. Alan Moseley
