Win2008 bootp help
I'm trying to setup bootp on a windows 2008 server so that my clients can boot from an image file across the network. I created my DHCP scopes and reservations, but I can't find where to put my boot image files on my server. Anyone know how to do this? thanks

Hello, do you talk about WDS server? How exactly did you create the boot image, please be more specific? Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

You need to add role ,that role WDS and in WDS you can add image, you can add more than one image and you need to enable that image also. So reed about WDS and you should be OK

i'm not wanting to use WDS to deploy an OS, but just bootp to have a client pxe boot basically. I currently have it setup running in Win2000, where I have a scope and reservations for my boot clients. For each client in it's scope options, i'm which boot file to use I can see how to do the same in Win2008, but I don't know where to actually place my .bin boot images on the Win2008 so that it will send the file to the client when they request it via bootp. I don't even see a place that says where you can set the path to the boot file.

Hello, the boot file for WDS or older RIS is placed in the DHCP scope options, Option 67. Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Hello, as said before option 67 is used with WDS or RIS. If you have your image on a file server use the provided way from the image software vendor. And do NOT forget to use sysprep on the image as this is the ONLY SUPPORTED way from Microsoft to work with images.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

The images i'm trying to deploy are not full Windows OS images, they are 1.44mb boot images. That's why I don't think i need to use WDS or RIS. I just want to use DHCP to have this boot image sent to the client when it gets its IP info (bootp). But I don't know where to place my boot image files on my win2008 server.
