Win2008 R2 Server with KMS not accepting Win7 key
We have a new Win2008 R2 domain controller where we are implementing KMS but I'm having trouble adding the KMS for Windows 7. I activated this server using the MAK and then used slmgr.vbs /ipk to install KMS keys. I was successful in adding keys for Win2008 R2 Enterprise and Win2008 Ent. I had trouble with adding the Office 2010 key but found this article http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cbced8d5-5530-46a6-bd58-e8d3a3c7d4f3&displaylang=en which solved that problem. After installing this I successfully added my Office 2010 KMS key. I'm still not able to add the Windows 7 KMS key. When I do I get this error: C:\Users\administrator.CGDEV>cscript C:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs /ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx (KMS key) Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host Version 5.8 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0xC 004F015' to display the error text. Error: 0xC004F015 How do we use this KMS server to host Windows 7 keys?

Hi Jeff-G, To better understand your question, I would like to give a brief summary of your issue. A Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controller is used as the KMS host. This server has already been activated by MAK before. You use slmgr.vbs /ipk to install KMS key on KMS host server. You have successfully installed KMS keys for Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise and Windows Server 2008 Enterprise but you are not able to install KMS key for Windows 7. If I understand it incorrectly, please let me know. I’m afraid that you have some misunderstanding about the KMS keys that you use. If you would like to activate computers with Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 Enterprise , and Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. You can use Server Group B key as the KMS host key. Only one KMS key can be installed on one KMS host. Product key group KMS can be hosted on (KMS key activates KMS host) Windows product editions activated by this KMS host Client VL for Windows 7 · Windows Vista · Windows 7 · KMS for Windows Server 2003 1.2 · Windows 7 Professional · Windows 7 Enterprise · Windows Vista Business · Windows Vista Enterprise Server Group A for Windows Server 2008 R2 · KMS for Windows Server 2003 1.2 · Windows Web Server 2008 · Windows Web Server 2008 R2 · Windows HPC Server 2008 · Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 Includes previous plus: · Windows Web Server 2008 R2 · Windows Web Server 2008 · Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 · Windows HPC Server 2008 Server Group B for Windows Server 2008 R2 Includes previous plus: · Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard · Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise · Windows Server 2008 Standard · Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Includes previous plus: · Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard · Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise · Windows Server 2008 Standard · Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Server Group C Includes previous plus: · Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter · Windows Server 2008 Datacenter · Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-Based Systems Includes previous plus: · Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter · Windows Server 2008 Datacenter · Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-Based Systems For more information on How to Choose the Right Volume License Key for Windows, please refer to the TechNet article below.
