Dear All, We are using Windows 2003 Sp2 64 bit Standard edition with Xeon processor with 8 CPUs. Oracle forms and reports 10g is running on the server. In the task manager, we are seeing CPU number 4 and 8 are utilized say Avg. 50% and rest are almost idle say max 5%. Please advice us, how we can fix this issue. Thanks, Anand.

you can use a stress test tool like prime95 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime95) to see if all cores are used in general when theres work. i am not sure about oracle, in mssql there is a limit of used cpus depending on the editions, so it might be an oracle restriction. check if you find configuration options in your oracle application where you can define the used cpus/cores.

It appears that 2003 standard should support 4 processors, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc758523(WS.10).aspx How many are reported by the summary page of the msinfo32 utility? Also, if this is a vendor-built system, what make/model is it? If you built it yourself, what components did you use? We may need to verify that the correct processor/chipset drivers are installed and that the BIOS is up to the most recent version. -- Mike Burr
