Mycompany has 5 servers which arecurrently running Linux (Fedora). My boss/manager would like to buy and install Windows Server 2003 on those servers. As we all know, Windows Server 2008 will be released next year, that's why I want him to postpone the upgrade till next year so we can get Windows Server 2008. However, those 5 servers have CD and not DVD drives. So, will there be a CD version of Windows Server 2008?.Or do I need to contact the manufacturer (HP)for DVD Driveupgrade? Or shouldIdo a network install? (I've never done a network install on a server. Please provide some links to neccesary documentation) Or, is it worth upgrading to Windows Server 2008 after all? Hi nr2ae, unfortunately, there will no any CDrelease of Windows Server 2008 it's DVDs only. so, your only solution is to upgrade your server. regarding to network installation, I don't recommend it.

As was mentioned you'll need to get DVD drives for these servers. One of my test servers has no DVD drive either; what I've had to do for that box is open the case and directly connect an IDE DVD drive during the install. It's a bit of a hassle but it works and once the OS is installed you no longer need the DVD drive. FYIon that test server I've already done the OS install 5-6 times (as new builds are released), and I need to do it again for RC0. Obviously this is atypical
