Why would someone want to upgrade to Server 2008 from 2003?
Hi, please can someone tell me the main reason why someone would want to upgrade from Server 2003 to Server 2008?

Enhanced security Better performances New featues like AD DS Fine Grained password policies Virtualization ...
Personally I recommend migrating to 2008 R2. This is an overview about it:

Generally, you would consider upgrading if there was a business need to do so. For example, there is a new feature in 2008 that your organization can take advantage of that will result in cost savings. Or, if 2003 was to come off of support,
and you needed to ensure that your OS was fully supported, that would be another good reason.
To upgrade just because its a newer OS, is generally not enough to make a case for.

This was put to me in an scenario where I was never given the answer.
Someone said it could have been because Server 2008 supports 64bit. But I told them so did Server 2003. There isnt a reason to upgrade unless
you want a specific feature as you stated. The main reason why I would update to Server 2008 would be - Keep upto date with technology, support for Windows 7 and Hyper V if I needed it.
