Why is port still blocked after opening it in firewall in Windows 7?
I added an inbound rule to the firewall adv. security settings in both Win2008 R2 and Win7 Pro. I can connect through to Win2008 R2 but not Win7. Viewing the Resource monitor confirms that in Win2008 R2 the ports are Allowed, but in Windows 7 they are "Not allowed". How can I resolve this? At this link is an image: http://www.twsm.com.tw/Cana/FirewallProblem.jpg Top part is the Firewall setting. Bottom part is the Resource monitor Network view of the program and it's "Not Allowed" status in Windows 7. Thanks in Advance.

Thanks, that is nice to know about the blocking rules. However, after removing all blocking rules... the program remains blocked. This machine is pretty clean. In other words, it is NOT controlled by someone else adding in policies to block ports. The only blocking entries were old programs that I turned off. I expect this to be the same on any freshly installed Win7 system... but why would it be different than Win2008?
