Why Slow Performance?
Hello: Ever since a new 32-bit Windows Server 2008 Standard was put in place, most any program on our workstations that has to access files on this server runs extremely slow. Prior to this server, we had a Windows Server 2003 in place. We moved the apps and files to this new 2008 server and pointed the workstations to it. There is a variety of operating systems on these workstations and those stations are all 32-bit. User permissions remained the same after this "migration". Data Execution Prevention is not turned on. Perhaps, anti-visus is an issue. But, why would it become an issue after changing servers? In other words, I'm trying to determine what can be done to eliminate this new slowness?

Generally when it comes to slow performance on servers, two things that should be checked initially: 1) Does the computer have the correct and latest drivers installed? 2) Does the NIC and Switch port have the same speed and duplex settings configured (for example- 100MB/FULL Duplex) Visit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.
