Hello all.I am new with windows server technology. I was hopping some one here can help me out.I have server at home that runs on windows server 2008 Enterprise edition. My question is, I don't know how to configure my DNS or web binding that can host my website. I have domain with GoDady set with name server set to ns1.mydomain.info & ns2.mydomain.info. But I have no idea how to set up my DNS (from home server) so it can respond to this domain.I be very thankful if some one show me how to do it step by step. Thanks, Nick.

I'd recommend that you keep your DNS external, either with GoDaddy or DynDNS for example. If you have a static IP GoDaddy will be fine and you can ask them to point www.yourdomain.com to your external IP as an A-record. If you want to keep your own DNS-server most top domains require two DNS-servers. If you choose DynDNS you'll needa client on your server that updates your IP when/if it changes. Then you'll need to configure your firewall / router to forward requests to port 80 externally to your webserver internally. It's bad practice to place your windows host directly on internet unless you REALLY know what you're doing.Technet Forums Moderator | Senior Specialist | MVP File Systems and Storage
