Web Content Filter in Server 2008?
Greetings,
I am administering a Windows Server 2008 R2 at a small school and currently we a paying a small fortune for the web content filtering to a third party firm somewhere in the cloud. I am seeking a lot of different ways to keep the cost down by maintaining
all extra network additions on my own and I was wondering if anyone knows if WS2008 has a built in web content filtering software? I have the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security bu I don't think I can manage the Web Content Queries through that particular
tool. I have also been looking at Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway but I am trying to do this with no incurred cost, hence hoping that someone knew the way...
Thanks much

Hi,
Thanks for posting in Windows Server Forum.
You need an Application-layer firewall which can understand the traffic flowing through them and allow or deny traffic based on the content. However, the built-in Windows firewall does not have this feature. And most business-oriented firewalls do include
this capability. Such as TMG you have mentioned. For cut down cost purpose, I can only tell the Windows server 2008 cannot provide this function by OS itself. You need to choose a firewall which you accept the cost. Your understanding is highly appreciated.
